Where Am I??

Archive for July, 2009

It’s been a couple of days I arrived to Munich to visit the North and ION Head Quarter for some shooting as well as my girlfriend… ;)   We’ve been filming for some nice videos for both brands, and some nice stuff will come out soon.

Apart from that I’ve been at the Munich static wave which is quite funny but harder than I expected and not exactly like real surfing… Instead to be pushed by the wave you must fight against the current and be able to surf it… I met some cool locals and it seems it was a great day for summer time, so lucky I.

We’ve also been shooting with the ION Wakeboard/Cable riders and it was insane! We drove to a sick Cable park with tones of sliders and kickers. It was crazy to see the guys doing massive tricks and going full speed on the sliders… It was  my second time riding a cable and I’ve almost never hit the sliders before but I’m happy as I improved quite fast and could do some nice 360º over them… It’s a really good way to improve the powered riding just like some kiters have been doing lately… But the sliders are definitely what I enjoyed the most!! After 5 hours riding I had to come out because I was wasted and almost hit the end of a slider with my whole teeth, so it was time to go home!!! Hope I can get my shots and see if it wasn’t too bad and then post it!! haha.

We are soon going up north on a 8h road trip together with my friend Carlos (NKB cameraman) and we’ll be filming at the PKRA Germany as well as motivating the other team riders (Cesar, Reno, Angela, Mario…) and see how it goes for them in the comp!

Cheers,

Stance DVD

Here a little vid from the last Stance DVD, it was filmed last October during the North Kiteboarding dealer meeting! There is some action after a while with a nice crash from my teammate Soufiane Hamaini .

The wind is being amazing here in Tarifa, it just blows every single day to have a nice session… I’ve been doing several photoshoots and will try to get some pics, it’s hard tho when it’s done with professional photographers!

Cheers!

Last week I attended an event located in Marseille (France) which was organized by 2 well known professional windsurfers, the Moussilmani brothers. There were 5 extreme sports shown out there: skate, bmx, skydive, windsurf and kitesurf. And it was a kind of comp and show at the same time.

I first went to the city of Antibes where I met with Jeremie Tronet (A rider from the Caribbean, like me… ;) ) and we went to the event where we found some other international riders like Sam Light (UK), Eli Zarka (Israel), Florian Daubos (Fr), Sjoukje Bredenkamp (SA), etc. There was a great atmosphere and I really enjoyed the competition format… We just had a couple of heats during which we had to show all we could do with a kite, from oldschool to newschool, funny tricks, blind to blind… An expression session during which we really had to make the crowd go wild and impress them, which I have to say we did. Plus our friend Florian Daubos (injured) was commenting our riding and making the public go nuts, because he knew pretty well how to cheer them up by making funny comments while dancing with the event's hostesses on the beach…

At the Prize giving ceremony I was quite happy to find out that I was in the first position!!! Just a great feeling to be on the top of the podium, specially when I had so much fun by showing our sport to the people. Sam Light came 2nd, Eli Zarka 3rd and Jeremie 4th…

Now I'm back in Tarifa for some time and the KPWT have started here so I had the chance to see most of the riders… the wind was good today and there was some action going on…

I'd like to say some words for Sophie Mathews who literally broke her leg/ankle yesterday while training for the comp… so big hugs to her who is at the hospital awaiting for an operation. Bad luck!

Next destination will maybe be Portugal, then Germany, Morocco and maybe Lithuania…

Cheers!
